In The Loop E-Mail List:

choices

Tomorrow is Easter Sunday 2010. The current loft series Entombed is ending…or, maybe, it’s just a beginning? We’ve learned that we need to die (change) in order to really live as Jesus taught; we’ve been challenged to give God room to move in and through us and to try something new (in His name).

Our challenge beginning tomorrow is to move on and out. We don’t want to fall into the “if only” trap…

‘if only I had more time; if only I went to graduate school; if only I had saved more, so I can give more; if only I had more talent….’

Adam Hamilton, pastor of Church of the Resurrection (UM) in the greater Kansas City area reminds us in his book, 24 hours, that the Pontius Pilate crowd we read about this Easter season faced a decision:

“Standing before them on the one hand is Jesus (The Christ): someone who does his work lovingly, quietly, non violently. His head is bloody. He makes not a sound.

And on the other hand we have someone else also named Jesus (Barrabas) who acts out of aggression, and a need for instant gratification, and was obviously very violent. He is defiant, and bellows out in rage.

We all know which Jesus the crowd chose. Examining our lives this season, we are challenged to look deep into our soul and askhow often have I also followed the crowd seeking instant gratification?

Lofters, I need some more room for God to move; how about you? Next week we will take a look at two that made the right choice. Stay tuned.

As always, I’d love to hear from you.

More later. East-out.
