Oswald Chambers take…holiness

As we Lofters conclude our DISEASE series, as hip as 2010 is and with it as we may be, what does Oswald Chambers say in My Utmost For His Highest, a oft used devotional thought must-read for nearly 100 years. He begins the year with this challenge:

” ‘…My Undeterredness for His Holiness. “Whether that means life or death, no matter!” (See Phil 1:21.) Paul is determined that nothing shall deter him from doing exactly what God wants. God’s order has to work up to a crisis in our lives because we will not heed the gentler way. He brings us to the place where He asks us to be our utmost for Him, and we begin to debate; then He produces a providential crisis where we have to decide—for or against, and from that point the “Great Divide” begins.’ ”

Chambers first delivered these meditations between 1911 – 1917 in England to a bible school and the YMCA.  Kinda sounds the same as the talking heads real message to us. Another take on the debate – “that moment becomes a great crossroads in our life” from an updated edition his work.  (1992)

I guess we each of a decision to make if we really want to be fully devoted, well, heathy, and whole. How’s it going for you?  Are you pursuing an unstoppable determination for His holiness? I’ve got work to do with…no debate.

More later. East-out.
